Eric Todd DeCava, 57, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on August 4, 2025, after a courageous battle against cancer. Eric was born on June 16, 1968, in Bridgeport, CT, to Patricia Chilly DeCava and the late Paul DeCava.

Eric was a man who found peace on the water, seizing any spare moment to be by the water and enjoy the quiet joy of fishing. He was both a skilled mechanic and a talented carpenter, known for reviving equipment that many had given up on, and crafting furniture and keepsakes that will be treasured by his family for generations. Eric had a generous spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, or anyone in need. His practical talents were matched by his kindness and willingness to give of himself. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Taylor Morin for her assistance in caring for Eric and her support of his family.

Eric is survived by his beloved son Justin Paul DeCava, sister Terri Woods (John), brother Edward Moore (Kim), brother Edward Shell, close friends Victor and Deter, his beloved dog Pumpkin (who was his constant companion), several nieces and nephews, and many additional family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Aron DeCava and sister Nadine Halapin.

Family and friends are invited to gather on August 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the family home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Take a Vet Fishing in Branford, CT.
