Eric Edward deVita, age 67, passed away on November 14, 2025, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was born on July 4, 1958, in Glendale, California, to the late Lucius and Marjorie deVita.

Eric was a proud graduate of the University of California, Davis. He began his career flying the A7 Corsair and transitioned to FA18 Super Hornet. He retired from the United States Navy as a Commander after serving from August 1982 until April 2003. Call sign Devo. Following his military career, he continued helping others as a dedicated financial planner.

Eric loved cooking and beer brewing, traveling, volunteering with the United Way and Special Olympics, keeping active, enjoying time at the beach, and riding his motorcycle. Above all, he cherished time with his beloved wife, Laurie, their family and friends.

Eric was known for his giving spirit and devotion to his family. Caring for those around him was his purpose, and in his final days, when asked what he wanted, he simply said, "everyone's happiness."

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laurie deVita; children, Garrett deVita, Melanie deVita (Chris McGill), and Angelica deVita; as well as many other family members and friends.

Memorial contributions in Eric's honor may be made to the United Way of St. Johns County.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Family Funeral home on December 5th at 11 am. Reception to follow immediately after where drinks and lunch will be served. Location to be announced at service.
