Eric Torres-Cortes, a much-loved son, brother, and friend, unexpectedly passed away, leaving a significant void for all who knew him. Born in Junction City, Kansas, Eric called Colorado Springs home for the past 16 years. A proud 2024 graduate of Sand Creek High School, where he earned a wrestling scholarship, he was continuing his college education.
Eric found joy in fishing and dedicated himself to fitness. Wrestling was a true passion, showcasing his athletic spirit. Beyond these interests, he had a unique ability to lift spirits with his sarcastic yet colorful humor, forging meaningful connections with everyone he encountered. His playful nature and quick wit could brighten any room, and he brought laughter through his love for singing, dancing, and silliness. Always up for something new, Eric embraced life with an open mind and a willingness to try anything.
Known for his genuine kindness and unwavering support, Eric possessed a remarkable selflessness. He readily dropped everything to help others through tough times, consistently prioritizing the well-being of his friends and family, often putting their needs before his own. His heart, perhaps too compassionate for this world, overflowed with a deep desire for the happiness of those he loved.
Eric's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Elice Torres-Cortes; father, Jeremi Torres-Cortes; mother, Karina Torres-Cortes; and step-parent, Candace Smith. He was also deeply loved by his extended family. Eric was preceded in death by his grandmother, Debbie Zinn, whom we believe welcomed him to Heaven. While his absence will be deeply felt, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched with his kindness and love.
