Eric Edwin Vreeland

PRESQUE ISLE: Eric Edwin Vreeland, 62, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Presque Isle. He was born on July 28, 1963, to Edwin and Gail Vreeland of Presque Isle, Maine.

Eric was predeceased by his mother, Gail. He is survived by his father, Edwin Vreeland; his brother, Jeff Vreeland and wife Susan of Presque Isle; his sisters, Vonda Driscoll and husband David of Leesburg, Virginia, and Tricia Barnes and husband Kevin of Presque Isle; along with two special nephews, Patrick Irvine of Gainesville, Virginia, and Justin Vreeland of Portland, Maine.

A 1981 graduate of Presque Isle High School, Eric went on to study at the Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming, graduating in 1983 with a degree in advanced mechanics. He further enhanced his expertise with advanced master technician training from the Bombardier Corporation.

Eric spent his professional life working in various automotive and sports repair shops in Presque Isle before fulfilling his dream of owning his own business, Big V Power Sports. Through his work, he served and supported hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts throughout Aroostook County and beyond. Even as he faced a terminal brain cancer diagnosis in 2024, Eric remained dedicated to mentoring the next generation-most notably, guiding his protégé, Kyle Bell, into the service industry field.

Eric cherished his lifelong friendships with Dan Henderson, Dan Bagley, Roy Whittier, Paul Devost, and Mike Carvelle, and fondly remembered those who predeceased him-James Aube and Steve Page. Together, they shared countless outdoor adventures, from archery and hunting to fishing and snowmobiling.

In his final year, Eric was especially grateful for the exceptional care he received from Melissa White and the clinical staff at Aroostook Cancer Care at A.R. Gould Hospital. He was also comforted by the daily support and compassion provided by his caretaker, Clair Leduc, and by the assistance of Dacia Carvelle. A heartfelt thank-you is extended to the staff of the Aroostook House of Comfort for their attentive hospice care during his final days.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Vreeland Residence, 118 Houlton Road, Presque Isle.
