Erica Lucero passed away on November 2nd, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on November 27th, 1986, to Mercy Salazar and Christopher Lucero in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Alvarez; daughter, Alexis Alvarez; mother, Mercy Salazar siblings two brothers, Christopher Lucero and Derrick Lucero; a sister-in-law, Crissy Lucero; two nieces, Breana Lucero and Novi Lucero. Also survived by many, many aunts and many, many cousins.
Erica was an amazing, caring, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Erica's favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving dinner was her favorite meal, which could have been because she was born on Thanksgiving Day. Erica liked Christmas and enjoyed spoiling her daughter, Alexis, and her husband, Jesse, for Christmas and their birthdays.
Erica worked for the State of NM at the Health and Human Services Department in Albuquerque as a Financial Analyst Assistant. She enjoyed her job and enjoyed helping those who really needed the help.
She was also an animal lover, especially dogs and cats. She was called Ace Ventura by her husband, Jesse, because she would want to stop and pick up any dog she saw in the streets to save them. She would post them as lost on social media or post their pictures on posts to make sure they got home to their owners.
Erica was a 49er fan, but didn't watch the games because she thought she was a jinx. Erica also enjoyed listening to her crime podcast throughout the day.
God must have needed her in Heaven because she was taken from us at the young age of 38.
She will be forever missed by all.
Until we see you again, my love, until we see you again.
