Born June 26, 1942 in Allentown, Ernie was the son of the late Daniel and Mary S. (Behm) Adams. He and the love of his life, his bride of 55 years, Nancy M. (Wotring) Adams, were married in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton, on March 22, 1969.

Ernie was a 1960 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School. He went on to work for Caloric in Topton before moving to Pottstown to work as a tire builder for Firestone Tire. He was a truck driver for Norco Foundry and then worked as a finisher for Spring City Electrical Equipment Manufacturing.

Ernie was a member of Connections Church, Pottstown. He was known as the baby whisperer as he had the amazing ability at church to be able to quiet young children when they began fussing. Ernie was the Ambassador of Pickleball at the Sanatoga Ridge Community in Pottstown and was the Official Scorekeeper of the Reading Phillies for 25 years. The "Ernman" was also known to enjoy offering his opinions to "Sound Off" in the Pottstown Mercury.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, Ernie is survived by his two sons, Kenneth E. Adams, Douglassville, and Randal "Duke" Adams, husband of Dr. Meg E. Ramey, Harrisburg, his grandchildren, Zachary K. Adams, Joshua D. Adams, and Samuel B. Adams, all of Douglassville, his brother, Roy Adams, husband of Sandy Adams, Fleetwood, and by his nieces, Kelly and Lisa.
