HOLDEN - Ernest G. Contis, 88, of Holden, passed away on April 28, 2025. He is the loving husband of Carol (Chaput) Contis with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Ernest was born in Worcester, the son of the late George and Catherine (Karabina) Contis. He grew up in Worcester and eventually moved to Holden with his wife to begin a family. He worked as a packaging engineer for over 25 years, and during his time working he was able to graduate from Northeastern University with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Ernest loved the beach, and adored spending time with his children and grandchildren at their home on Cape Cod. He was a handyman and always needed a project. So much so, that he built two of his own homes, and assisted with building his daughter's home as well. He enjoyed working on cars, specifically restoring old Porsches and often attended races or antique car shows with his family.
Along with his wife Carol, Ernest leaves behind his children, George Contis and his wife Kathryn of Windham, NH, and Kristina Perry and her husband Jon of Holden; his sister Helen Pritsoulis; and his beloved grandchildren, Elijah Contis, Luke Contis, Rachel Perry, Carson Perry, and Sam Perry.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Abigail Contis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6th from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street in Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the cathedral. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St., Worcester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
