Ernest James "Jim" Minard, 77, of Yale, passed away peacefully at his home in Yale, Michigan, on March 7, 2025. Born on September 24, 1947, in Canada, Jim lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a generous spirit that touched everyone he knew.
Jim's journey began in the heart of Canada, where the values of hard work were instilled in him from a young age. He carried this principle throughout his life, making a lasting impact on his family and friends.
Jim's professional life was characterized by his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. He spent many years at the New Haven Foundry. Before his well-deserved retirement, he contributed his expertise to The Michigan Sugar Company's Croswell factory, where he was a valued employee.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found both support and the opportunity to offer guidance to others. His involvement in AA was a testament to his desire to improve not only his life but also the lives of those around him. He liked to fish and collect coins and trinkets. Jim loved his cat, Frisky, and the bond they shared was a source of comfort and companionship.
Jim is survived by his step-daughter, Eula Roe; children, Cathy, Cindy, and Jamie Minard; granddaughter, who was the light of his life, Elizabeth Marsh; sisters-in-law, Cindy Dale-Carrier, Lynn Campbell-Knowles, and Loretta Strong; and special friend, Ramona.
Jim was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Cassine Minard; sister, Shirley; and his brother-in-law, Harold.
Those who knew Jim would describe him as loving, kind, and generous. He lived his life with an open heart, and he had a spunky side to him, always ready to embrace others with compassion and understanding. As the well-known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson goes, "To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Jim truly succeeded in making a positive difference in the lives of many. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to Ernest James "Jim" Minard, we celebrate a life well-lived, and as he said it, "Live one day at a time".
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Lynn Township Hall 13995 Yale Road, Yale, Michigan 48097. Arrangements were provided by Grace Memorial of Port Huron.
