Ernest was born in Saginaw, MI on January 9, 1946. After receiving his GED, he chose to serve his country by joining the US Army during the Vietnam War. He then graduated from Delta Community College with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Technology, a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western University and a Master's Degree in Industrial Management & Technology from Central Michigan University. Ernest utilized his skills at General Motors, Barry-Wehmiller, Coca Cola, and Anheuser-Busch until deciding to start his own successful business 'Superior Painting & Contracting.' Ernest was a world traveler with a passion for fishing, Mexican food, and spending time with family & friends. Ernest "Skeet" will also be remembered for his roller-skating skills. Ernest J. "Skeet" Reed, a longtime resident of St. Louis, MO, passed away on July 22, 2025. Ernest is survived by his daughter Tonya Reed-Mumford, grandson Airron Nutt, and great-grandsons Kannon Nutt, Ki-Yon and Kashton (Kash) Carrell; daughter Gabrielle Reed; daughter Ursula James and her husband Keith James, grandchildren Riley Parker (Trey Parker), Carter James and Peyton James, and great granddaughter Margo Ryan James; his loving sister Queen Reed-Crawford as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Pamela Reed, his Father Ernest J. Reed Sr, Mother Queen Ester Reed, brother Coleman "Ronnie" Raven, and sister Norma Reed-McDougal. Honorable mentions: Our Uncle, Dr. Larry Davis, met our Dad when they were in kindergarten together. They maintained their friendship for 74 years, until Dr. Davis's passing on March 30, 2021. He also leaves to cherish his memory his special friend Ms. Lola Green. We all feel grateful and blessed to have had Ernest's love, friendship and influence in our lives for 79 years. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the St. Louis Empowerment Network on our Dad's behalf, as he was an active participant in the organization and their cause to support those impacted by cancer.
