He is survived by his wife of 39 years Barbara Joann Roberts, oldest son Charles Edward Roberts, daughter-in-laws Christie Roberts and Joyce Roberts. three brothers, three sisters, three brother-in-laws, three sister-in-laws, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Ernest grew up in the hills of East Tennessee near the Mighty Tennessee River. He was diagnosed with polio at the age of two and told he would never walk without braces, but he proved the doctor wrong. He was a graduate of the school of hard knocks. He picked cotton, he farmed, he worked on a boat dock, he milked cows, he baked bread for two different companies, he had a coffee route, he sold drugs (the legal kind), he was a grocer, he retired from a grocery brokerage company and he was a woodworker after retiring. I'm quite sure he had a few other jobs along the way to support his family. That's just the way he was.
He loved Jesus and he would tell you so! He will be missed by many friends and family but we know we will meet again in Heaven!
Visitation will be held at Martin's Funeral Home, Granbury, Texas on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
Services will be held at the Church of God, Granbury, Texas on Saturday, May 10, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Arrangements under the care of Martin's Funeral Home.
