ERNESTINE ANGEL GRAY
May 28, 1943 -- February 19, 2023
Funeral Service for Mrs. Ernestine Angel Gray, 79, of Dermott, will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 4, 2023. Service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 415 West Iowa Street, Dermott; Rev. Doran Newhouse, Pastor; Rev. Ralph Carbage, Officiating Minister.
Mrs. Gray was born May 28, 1943 in Tillar, Arkansas. Her parents were the late Turner Green and Verna Brown Green.
After high school graduation, she attended AM&N College, Pine Bluff and graduated in 1965 with a B.S. Degree in Education. She began her teaching career at Morris Booker College in Dermott and later taught in the McGehee School District for one year. Returning to Dermott, she taught from 1965 to 1999, retiring after 34 years of service. After retirement, she later returned and taught for additional 12 years; teaching a total of 46 years.
Mrs. Gray was married to the late Floyd Gray, former mayor of Dermott and he also taught in the Dermott School District. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Missionary Church under the leadership of Rev. Doran Newhouse. She loved shopping, cooking, sewing, and talking.
Mrs. Gray passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 leaving as survivors two daughters, Kasunda Gray of Little Rock, Kira Gray of Cabot, and Floyd Gray, Jr. (Melissa), of Bryant; two brothers, Jessie James of Oak Park, IL, Charles Green(Elnora) of Lansing, MI; one sister, Bobbie English of South Holland, IL.; five grandchildren
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, March 3, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will take place in Davis Cemetery, Dermott. Service entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 210 North Trotter Street, Dermott.
