Ernestine Patricia Slak

Ernestine Patricia (nee Duran) Slak, 86, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospice, Bethlehem, PA. Her son, Milan Slak, and her granddaughters, Alena Slak and Gabriella Slak, were at her side. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Augustine and Concepcion (nee Macias) Duran.
Ernestine was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1957. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from West Chester University in 1962. She served as a special education teacher and then as a care manager for the elderly for the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services for 21 years until her retirement in 2002.
She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor, love for music, and beautiful smile.
Survivors: Ernestine is survived by her son, Milan Duran Slak, her granddaughters, Alena Louise Slak and Gabriella Louise Slak, her sister Isabel Duran, her brother, David M. Duran, her sister-in-law, Claire Duran, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Louisa Duran, Anita Carla Duran, and Michaela (nee Duran) Murphy, and by her brother, Augustine Duran.
Services: A private service will be held for family. Ernestine's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
