Craig Pierce, 68, transitioned to his heavenly life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Hospice Home of High Point.
A lifelong resident of High Point, Craig was born on March 26, 1957, to Boyd Jeremiah (Jerry) Pierce II and Norma Jean Davis Pierce. From an early age, Craig demonstrated extraordinary determination and talent-becoming the youngest Eagle Scout in the Milford Byerly troop at just 12 years old. He had a lifelong love of horses and a gift for working with his hands.
Craig graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1975 with an education in mechanics. His passion for high-performance auto parts led him to pursue an associate's degree at Nashville Diesel College. Over the years, he applied his talents in many trades-working as a welder, crane operator, and steel worker. In retirement, he found joy and purpose as a stocker at Food Lion, where his coworkers affectionately called him "Big Poppa" and "The Swiss Army Knife."
Craig's hardworking nature was deeply rooted in the examples set by his father and grandfather-both of whom he considered mentors. His dad taught him the value of dedication and craftsmanship, while his grandfather, Ervin "The Bull" Davis, passed down an old-school toughness and wisdom that Craig carried with him throughout life.
In 1982, Craig married the love of his life, Audrey Staton Pierce. Their 43-year marriage was one of unwavering love, laughter, and mutual devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life and a close-knit family that he cherished above all else.
Craig was a man of deep kindness and generosity. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he was deeply supportive of his family and a beloved friend to many. He had a unique way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and his presence lit up every room he entered. His legacy of love, strength, and service lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Craig was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Norma Jean Davis Pierce.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Audrey Staton Pierce; his daughter, Heather Pierce Dickey (James); sons, Ervin Chad Pierce and Ian Pierce (Jaklyn); eight grandchildren; his father, Boyd Jeremiah (Jerry) Pierce II (Ann); brothers, Boyd Jeremiah Pierce III and Garland Pierce; sister, Deborah Pierce; and a host of cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A gathering of friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the Life Tribute Center of Cumby Family Funeral Service.
Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point is honored to serve the Pierce family during this time.
