E. Avadore Poole, 95, of Greenfield, departed this life at 5:41 p.m., on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on Friday, December 9, 1927, in Greenfield, to the late Joseph and Pauline Jones Poole. On December 22, 1973, he married the former Jean Penn, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2008.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Deonna) Poole and Timothy Poole, both of Indiana, lifelong friend and caregiver who resided with him for seven and a half years, Kim L. Strobel, several grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, two sisters, Priscella Jones of Oklahoma, Judy Rhoads of Sinking Springs, three brothers, Shelby Poole of Greenfield, Travis (Kathie) Poole of Greenfield, Lamond (Hazel) Poole of Washington Court House, several nieces and nephews, special friends who were more like family, Brenda Looney, Bill Looney, Jeremiah Looney, Joshua Looney, and Mark Mulholand. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of their children, Shirley Mae Flory who died in 2017, one son, Terry Poole, one sister, Shirley Poole, and five brothers, Lionel, Roger, Rome, Delbert, and Joseph Poole, Jr.
Avadore was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 62. He retired from American Aggregates where he worked hard for twenty years. He enjoyed spending his free time visiting with friends, being outdoors in nature, and playing golf.
Avadore wanted to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at the Adena Hospital of Greenfield for all their kindness and skilled care.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield. Following the service, Avadore will be laid to rest beside his wife, Jean, in Greenfield Cemetery. Family and friends can visit at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Veterans in Transition, 176 Clinton Rd Apt 6D, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
