Esther Borkholder Obituary
She was born February 15, 1941, in Elkhart County, Indiana, daughter of the late Daniel and Polly (Graber) Troyer.
Esther resided in Sturgis since 2000, coming from Centreville.
On June 29, 1962, she married Levi Borkholder in Three Rivers.
She and Levi attended Locust Grove Church in Burr Oak and Sturgis Missionary Church.
Esther was skilled at gardening and mastered the art of crocheting. She enjoyed baking and her cinnamon rolls will be forever missed.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 62 years: Levi; daughter: Dori (Kirk) St. Amant of Ruston, Louisiana; sons: Philip (his fiancée Salina Kalnins) Borkholder of Vicksburg and James Burkholder of Bon Air, Virginia; grandchildren: Katie Borkholder of Grand Rapids, Carter Borkholder a student at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Lily St. Amant a student at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA and Isabelle St. Amant a student at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston Louisiana; sisters: Fannie Mae Raber of Middlebury, Indiana and Annabelle (William) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Indiana; brother: Menno Troyer; sister-in-law: Miriam Troyer of Alburtis, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Michael Borkholder; brothers: Albert Jay Troyer and Ora Troyer and sister: Sarah Lillie Lantz.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, March 7th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Esther Ella Borkholder will be held Saturday, March 8th at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Bob Renner will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to Heartland Hospice, 8075 Creekside Drive, Portage, MI 49024.
