Esther Dixon

Esther Clara Dixon, 87, of Durand, IL passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. She was born on September 26, 1937, to Einar and Mabel Nelson. She grew up mostly in the Durand, IL area. Esther and Donald E. Moore had four daughters, Pamela (Todd) Pearson; Cheryl Mc Grath; Leslie (Chris) Lami and Constance (Bill) Gammeter. Esther married Jon Dixon on October 3, 1986 in Loves Park, IL and was stepmother to Jon's children, Trina (Mark) Keller; Tim (Kristin) Dixon and Tom Dixon.
Esther had many talents, Long Arm Quilter, Crafter, Golfer, Euchre Player, Flower Gardening, Stamper and a Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Esther is survived by her children, stepchildren, 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Jon Dixon; parents, Einar and Mabel Nelson; brother, Russell Nelson; sister, Barb Scott; sister, June Puhl; and grandson, Matthew Pearson.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her personal caregiver Cindy, the supportive staff at Medina Nursing and Rehab in Durand, IL. and to Mercy Health Hospice of Illinois.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel with Pastor Eric Lemonholm of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation Rites to be Accorded. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of service, Saturday.
