Eugene "Gene" Robert Anderson, 95, of Coon Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Gene was born in rural Kanabec County, on April 7, 1929, to Hilding and Ellen Anderson. He was a proud graduate of Ogilvie High School and attended Gustavus Adolpus College. He married Marilyn Rae Graber on July 19, 1952, in Hinckley, MN.
Gene had a remarkable career in the construction industry, dedicating his entire professional life to the building trades. Known for his exceptional skills, Gene could build or fix anything, earning him a reputation as a master craftsman. His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality were evident in every project he undertook. In travels throughout the state with Gene, the upcoming town was almost certain to spark a story of the time he had spent there and the construction project his hands had helped create.
Beyond his professional achievements, Gene was a passionate outdoorsman who lived by the mantra of family first. He cherished time spent at the family cabin on Bay Lake where fishing was one of his many loves. From his youth, he developed a sense of self-sufficiency and enjoyed both nurturing and sharing the fruits from his garden along with the bounty of the hunt or the fish. He took pride in the satisfaction he received from maintaining and caring for God's creation.
His character was defined by his integrity, kindness, and unwavering faith, which guided his actions and interactions with others throughout his life. Gene's warm smile and friendly personality could light up any room, and his empathetic nature made him a beloved figure to all who knew him. He was a gifted conversationalist who never let an encounter with a stranger pass without the sharing of a story or opportunity to cement a new friendship. He was always ready to lend a listening ear and offer support, demonstrating a deep understanding and compassion for others.
Gene was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; son, Robert; brothers, Roslyn, Curtis, Marbury, Virgil, Elwin, Vernon, and Theodore; and sister, Doris Oslund.
Gene is survived by his children, Ronald (Karri) Anderson, Rick (Sherry) Anderson, and Susanne (Steve) Franks; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and good friends. He is forever in our hearts.

Gene and Marilyn were neighbors in Coon Rapids. I remember Gene as a very kind, caring person. He often called our little three year old to sit in the middle of his strawberry patch and would feed her the biggest ripest berries there. God bless, say Hi to Marilyn.

In my mind and my children's, he was always "Grandpa Stagedoor" I didn't even know his name until a few years ago from church. When my daughter danced (as well as grandkids at NFD) my favorite memories were watching him dance at recitals!! What a guy!! Also seeing him at church being an usher. He will be missed so much by those who knew him!!
