Gaile "Eugene" Daso, age 71 of Marion, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home. On July 25, 1951, he was born to the late Robert Earl Daso and Luella May (Darnell) Dyke, and on September 28, 1972, he married his beloved wife, Jean (Varner).
Eugene worked in construction for most of his life, and he also served in the United States Air Force after his graduation from Marion Harding High School. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and hanging out at American Legion Post 584, and back in his younger days, he was a disco champion, having taken home trophies for his talents. He was a loyal patron of the OK Cafe, and he did some work there from time to time.
He is survived by his sons Eric (Kelly) Daso, Chris (Kaitlynn) Daso, and James (Mary) Daso; his grandchildren James Jr., Ryan, Ty, Autumn, Ostyn, Lexy, and Lacy; and his great-grandchildren Adam and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Daso; his son Robert Daso; his brother Timothy Earl Daso; his sisters Carolyn Gattshall, Jeanette Dickerson, and Deon Martin; and his parents Robert Daso and Luella Dyke.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. Services will take place at 1 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
