Eugene Strother Haynes Jr. affectionately known as "Gene," was born on July 5, 1942, in Meade County, Kentucky. He passed away on September 2 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family. Gene's warm spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all whom he encountered, and his unwavering dedication to both his family and friends will be cherished by those left to mourn.

A proud veteran, Gene served honorably in the United States Air Force, embracing the values of commitment and camaraderie that shaped his character. After his military service he embarked on a fulfilling career at Ford Motor Company. Beyond his professional life, Gene was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the great outdoors, reveling in moments spent hunting and fishing. However, what brought him the most joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter and smiles filled his heart with happiness, and he was always eager to share stories or lessons from his life—a true testament to his caring and compassionate nature.

Gene is survived by sisters Ona Mae Hamilton, Hilda Skiles and his brother Doug Haynes, his cherished daughter, Kimberly Womack, and her husband, Greg Womack. He was a proud grandfather to Tabatha Schermerhorn, Danielle Mota, Noah Womack, Gabrielle Womack, Andrew Womack, and Kaytlyn Haynes who will forever remember his love and wisdom. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
