Stephen Alan Linker, 83, of Louisville, KY, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 11, 2025. Born in Louisville on April 26, 1942, to Adele and S. Harry Linker, Steve was a man of compassion, commitment, and loyalty to family, friends, and community.
Steve graduated from Atherton High School, The University of Michigan, and The University of Louisville School of Law, and served in the Army reserves. After practicing law for several years and working in the family banking business, Steve founded the investment firm, Linker Capital Management, and served as President for the next 45 years.
Affectionately known as Stevie, Pops, Pop Pop and Links, his biggest priority in life was his family and friends, and of course, the Cards. Steve was a dedicated sports fan and competitor. Loyal and always rooting for his teams, including the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!), Louisville Cardinals (Go CARDS!), and, in recent years, the Cincinnati Reds. Playing and watching golf, March Madness, NCAA football, and NFL were favorite pastimes. He loved to dance, and greatly enjoyed music and attending concerts. He tried to find a solution to any problem, and taught his family to face challenges with grace. A devoted son and son-in-law, he cherished his late brother Donnie, his sister and brother-in-laws, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He adored his wife and daughters; his grandchildren were the light of his life. Steve had numerous lifelong friends and made it a priority to keep in touch with family and friends across the country.
Steve inherited a passion for giving back and bettering the community from his parents and grandparents, Rebecca and Barnett Linker. Throughout his life, he served as a community leader and volunteer in many organizations, including the Louisville Jaycee's, Transit Authority of River City, Home of the Innocents, and Greater Louisville Fund for the Arts. He served in key leadership roles throughout his life at the Jewish Community Center, where he served as President, Metro United Way, the Jewish Community Federation, and Jewish Family and Career Services.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Sandee, his daughters Meredith and Jessica, son-in-law James, grandchildren Jed, Darcy, Owen and Max, and dog Baxter.
The family wants to thank the wonderful team of doctors, Hosparus Health, and many friends and colleagues who supported him throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at The Temple, 5101 US Highway 42, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Temple, the Ethel Kozlove Levy Senior Adult Fund-Jewish Federation, the National Kidney Foundation, Hosparus Health, or a charity of your choice.
May he inspire us to live with passion and commitment, and may his memory be a blessing.
