Eugene "Rooster" Kibbe, born on August 11, 1941, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2025 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.
A lifelong resident of Coldspring, New York, Eugene dedicated his life to service, hard work, and family. From a young age, he contributed to the family farm, instilling in him a strong work ethic that would define his life. Over the years, he worked for Blackstone Corporation and later served the community through his role with the Town of Coldspring Highway Department until his retirement.
Eugene was a proud 63-year life member of the Coldspring Fire Company. His unwavering commitment to public service and community safety left a lasting impact on those around him. He was also a devoted member of the Scottish Rite, reflecting his deep-rooted values and sense of brotherhood. He was a devoted member of the Steamburg United Methodist Church.
On November 23, 1963, Eugene married the love of his life, Lola Newton Kibbe. Together, they built a loving home and raised their children with care and devotion. Eugene is survived by Lola and their beloved children: Joseph (Janice) Kibbe and Lisa Kibbe. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Josh (Niki) Kibbe, Adam (Jayden) Maloney, and Arthur (Erica) Kibbe; as well as five great-grandchildren: Madison, Nick, Blake, Brycen, and Lani.
He is also survived by his sister, Vera Harrington of Phoenix, Arizona, and Louise Conklin of North Port, Florida.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Grace Kibbe; brothers, James Kibbe and David Kibbe; and sister, Lillian Coe.
Known affectionately as "Rooster", Eugene had a zest for life that shone through in everything he did. He found joy in spending time with his family – his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of his world. Whether welding in his workshop or casting a line while fishing or camping under the stars with loved ones, Eugene embraced every moment. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, fixing vehicles, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
Eugene's life was one of dedication – to his family, to his community through decades of fire service, and to living fully with kindness and generosity. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
Friends may call at the Van Rensselaer and Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, NY on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 2 – 5 p.m.
