Eugene V. LaMagna

Eugene V. LaMagna, 97, of Fairfield, N.J., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Livingston.
Eugene was born on April 3, 1928, in Newark, N.J., to the late Francesco and Speranza (Bocci) LaMagna. Speranza coming from Avellino, Italy and Francesco from Salerno. Eugene was the youngest of ten children. He was a proud graduate of Rutherford High School, where he distinguished himself as co-captain of the Bulldogs football team, helping lead the team to a State Championship in 1947. Eugene was honored to be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. He then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. Eugene enjoyed a long and accomplished career as an electrical engineer for Kearfott, Little Falls. A gifted design engineer and problem-solver, he played a role in designing equipment used for the original Space Shuttle program and was widely respected for his ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software. Known for his sharp mind and generous spirit, Eugene could fix just about anything and was always willing to help others with his skills.
He was predeceased by his parents, Francesco and Speranza LaMagna. His beloved wife of thirty-eight years, Anne (Davis) LaMagna. His brothers, Nick, Frank, James, Emil, and Joseph LaMagna, and sisters Lucy Pollara, Carmella Laudati, Gilda Hergert and Edith Piscopo.
Eugene is survived by his beloved family, including his long-time companion of thirty-four years, Joan Muller, his son Paul LaMagna and his wife Patty; his grandchildren Brittany Lambros and her husband Jesse, Tricia Anne Hughes and her husband Tim, and Paul LaMagna and his wife Brianna, he is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; Stella, Jackson, Madelyn, Millie, Sienna, Cameron, Luke, Theo, Paul, Michael and Lorenzo, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, 12 Hollywood Avenue, Fairfield. Kindly meet directly at the church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
