Eugene Louis Mehay

Eugene Louis Mehay, aged 87, of Bancroft, Michigan, was called home on August 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Eugene was born on April 22, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to loving parents Arthur and Louise Mehay. He was an employee at General Motors for just over three decades before retiring in 1993. On June 22, 1963, Eugene married the love of his life, Linda, in Auburn Heights, Michigan. Together they raised three children, and built a home full of laughter, love, kindness, and hard-working values, before her passing in 2002.

Eugene was known by all who had the privilege of knowing him as a gentle giant, standing at an impressive height of 6'8, he loved people, and was always willing to help out whether he knew you or not. He and Linda built their home together on 12 acres, which Eugene was almost always mowing. He took great pride in his lawn and making sure his land was well-groomed. He adored his family, spending time with his children and grandchildren every chance he could, especially at the get-togethers he loved so much. Eugene made having a good time a priority, he enjoyed boating, fishing, playing pool, and gambling. There was always time for a trip to the casino or playing cards with his nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Mehay; His parents Arthur and Louise Mehay; his brothers Jules (Florence) Mehay, and Arthur (June) Mehay; and his sisters Henrietta Monnier, Alberta Priebe, Helen Mehay, and Mary (Lester) Duckett.

Eugene is survived by his daughter Vicky Foster; His sons Darrel (Ann) Mehay, and Vincent Mehay; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as many friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service to honor Eugene's life will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Jennings-Lyons Chapel, located at 520 W. Main St., Owosso, Michigan, 48867. Burial will follow at Fremont Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 22, 2025, From 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, as well as on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
