Mr Eugene "Genie" Petteway was born October 17th, 1957 in Galveston Texas to the Late George and Laura Petteway. At an early age he united with Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church. He later joined and was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. He united with several other churches later in his life.
Eugene was a 1977 graduate of Ball High School, where shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army, receiving his honorable discharge July 30 1981. He later joined the Texas National Guard and was a member for many years. Eugene worked for Moody National Bank and the BP/Marathon oil refinery with HydroChem.
Genie enjoyed watching his favorite team the San Francisco 49ers
Eugene Petteway passed away on August 20th, 2023 at Cornerstone Caregiving of Clear Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers George Petteway 3rd and Melvin Petteway and two Sisters Shirley Franklin and Robbie Creamer. Left to celebrate the memories of his life are his children Bryant Eugene Petteway and Andrea Young (Chris). Close friend and former wife Ann Holman, brothers Leon Petteway and Michael Petteway (Joyce) lifelong friend Jerrell Woodworth, Alfred Fontenot (Pee-Wee) and Leonard Lyons a host of nieces and nephews cousins and friends.
