Eugene Leo Suprenant, "Gene", passed away on December 20, 2024 at Courtney Manor Nursing Center of Bad Axe, surrounded by loved ones. Gene was born on August 19, 1926 in Cass City, to the late Arthur and Florence Suprenant. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1944 and received a Bachelor in Education from Central Michigan University in 1954. He met the love of his life, Berdean Schantz, in the summer of 1947. They were married July 1, 1949 at the First United Methodist Church of Bad Axe. The were blessed with a family of four children. During World War II, Gene joined the US Army. After serving his country, he returned to Bad Axe and later entered Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in education. Upon graduating from Central, He taught at Owendale, Almont, Yale and Marysville High Schools. Gene had several life passions including: woodworking, fishing, playing cards and golfing. He loved spending time with his wife, children and family. In retirement, he enjoyed sitting on his back deck looking out at Lake Huron. He was also an avid bird watcher and could tell you the name of any bird that landed on his bird feeders in Port Hope. His favorite meal was breakfast and he was one of the founding members of the breakfast club for retirees, affectionaly called the R.O.M.E.O. Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out: in Port Austin. He was also active in his local VFW chapter. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Churches in both Harbor Beach, and Zephyrhills, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Jim, Art and John, and his sisters: Thelma and Phyllis. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Paul Suprenant Jr. He is survived by his wife Berdean (Schantz) Supreannt, his brother Don (Joyce) Suprenant, his son Paul Suprenant (Regina), his daughter Sharon Truax (Jan), his daughter Kathryn Testolin (Gene), his son Ronald Suprenant (Rosalyn), eight grandchildren. five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Memorial services along with a celebration of life, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Beach, Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11 am. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach.
