Eugene “Gene” Albert Weseman of St. Charles, Missouri died August 22, 2025 surrounded by family, at Evelyn’s Hospice House in Creve Coeur, Missouri.

Born October 17, 1943 in St. Charles, Missouri. He was the son of Eugene and Waltina (Eremewitz) Weseman. He grew up in Bridgeton, Missouri. He attended Duchesne High School followed by earning a bachelor's degree at St. Louis University.

Gene served in the United States Army as a Captain of Artillery and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Gene met Diane L. Jensen during one of his leaves in the Army and about six months later was married on May 13, 1967. They had seven children and shared a wonderful life, married for over 57 years.

Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hardworking and fun-loving man dedicated to his family. Gene loved to spend his time bowling, playing racquetball, playing video games, and painting. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, including hosting large pizza parties and barbeques. Gene was an amazing baker with some specialties being cookies, pies, cheesecake, sticky buns, and tea rings. He was an avid nature lover and enjoyed fishing trips, foraging for mushrooms, and feeding birds (but not the squirrels). He was a talented “handy-man” repairing cars, fixing things around the house and gardening. Gene was gifted in “dad” jokes, puns and silly trivia. He was a successful computer programmer and did an excellent job providing for his family.

For much of his life, Gene was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Cottleville, MO. There he was a big part of the Marriage Encounter program and a Eucharistic Minister during masses.

Gene is survived by his children: Andrea (Craig) Shumate, Carla (Adrian) Nico, John (Stephanie) Weseman, Lucia (Charles) Gray, Sophia (Steve) Vallie, James (Genevieve) Weseman, Philip (Jessica) Weseman; grandchildren: Sarah, Paul, John Luke, Grace, Odin, Soren, Elliot, Simon, Everett, Claire, Nora, Isaac, Lire’ael, Aidan, Rosalind and Edith; siblings: Rita Hine, Fran (Sherry) Weseman, Greg (Gloria) Weseman; and several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Diane.

A Celebration of Life in honor of both Gene and Diane will be held on September 14, 2025 from 12-2pm at Harvest Lanes Bowling Alley 4101N. St. Peters Pkwy, St. Charles, MO 63304. We will celebrate their life together with bowling, food, and shared memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Evelyn’s House of Creve Coeur, MO.
