Eugene Williams

Eugene “Snake” Williams, a beloved father, brother, and friend, entered this world on October 9, 1955, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, born to the late Arleaner Williams Johnson and Woodrow Williams. A proud graduate of Scotlandville High School, Eugene was a man of deep faith who embraced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

With a strong sense of duty and patriotism, Eugene enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduation, devoting 15 years of service to his country. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, he mastered the art of leadership, working as a Crawler Track Operator and earning distinction as a skilled sharpshooter. His military years were not just a career but a defining chapter of his life—filled with discipline, camaraderie, and a commitment to excellence.

Upon his honorable discharge, Eugene transitioned into civilian life with the same dedication and work ethic. He contributed his talents to Plantic Plastic, Exxon, and City of Baton Rouge Public Works before ultimately pursuing his passion as a self-employed mechanic. His hands were gifted in fixing what was broken—both in machines and in people’s hearts. He never turned away a friend in need, always offering wisdom, laughter, and a helping hand.

Eugene was a man of charisma, known for his impeccable style, infectious energy on the dance floor, and his larger-than-life storytelling—especially when reminiscing about his time in the military. His love for his family was boundless, and his presence filled every room with warmth and laughter.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:30 PM, Eugene peacefully departed this life at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, surrounded by those who loved him most. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains alive in the countless lives he touched.

Eugene leaves behind a legacy cherished by his devoted family:

Four daughters: Tonga (Robert) McKinnie of Detroit, MI; Eugena Williams, Eurefa Williams, and Keoisha Williams, all of Baton Rouge, LA.

One son: Aaron Williams of Baton Rouge, LA.

Five sisters: Betty, Shelia, Pamela, Rhonda Williams, and Roena (Reginald) O’Conner.

Two brothers: Edward (Sharon) Williams and Marvin O’Conner.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Robert Jr. (DeZhia), Dante’, Tayshawn McKinnie, Nyrei, Dior McKinnie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother, Frank James Williams.

Though the world feels quieter without Eugene’s laughter, his spirit will forever dance in our hearts. Rest easy, Sergeant. Your mission is complete, but your legacy lives on.
