Eva "June" Derwacter, 96 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at the Beckett House at New Concord.
She was born on October 31, 1928, in Clay County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Nelson Stone and Elsie (Brown) Stone. June worked as a nurse's aide at Arlington Nursing Home in Newark for many years. She enjoyed quilting, taking care of stray cats, gardening, and was always known to be on the go. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and loved ones.
June is survived by her children, Kelly (Stephanie) Derwacter, Deborah Derwacter, Nancy Miller; grandchildren, Aleesa Ponce, Matthew Whitehouse, Edward Whitehouse, Kristen Wymer, Edward Derwacter Jr., David Mayle; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Derwacter; 2 children, Betty June Neighbarger, Edward Ray Derwacter; and 9 siblings.
The family would like to give a sincere thanks to the Beckett House staff members for the wonderful care she received.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darren Tolbert officiating. Burial will conclude services at Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville.
