Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bowser Family Funeral Home - Mena on Dec. 9, 2025.
Eva Mae Hopper, age 77, of Zafra, Oklahoma died Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at her home. She was born on Tuesday, June 1, 1948 to Adam Earl Clowers and Willie Mae Fairless Clowers in
Idabel, Oklahoma.
Eva was a proud graduate of Hayworth High School. She lived her life with a straightforward spirit and the heart of a country girl who treasured days spent hunting and fishing. She spoke her mind, cared with great strength, and got to know every person she met. Her love for her children and grandchildren filled her life, and her talent shone in every craft she made, whether she was painting, drawing, or gathered around a table playing cards, dominos, or Yahtzee with her family. She approached every task with easygoing confidence and a willingness to lend a hand, showing skill in everything from skinning a deer to cutting wood. Family brought her the greatest pride, with her grandchildren holding a special place in her heart, and she carried deep joy in being a mother who raised her children to be strong and capable. Eva was truly one of a kind and will be missed deeply.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hershal Hopper; and her sisters and brother in law, Linda Clowers, and Judy and Ronnie Nicholson.
Eva is survived by her two sons and daughters in law, Linden and Rachael Hopper of Mena and Michael and Kimberly Hopper of Mena; her daughter, Melinda Bodkin of Mena; one brother and sister in law, Robert and Shirley Baker of Broken Bow; two sisters and brothers in law, Debbie and Max Cleveland of Tom, Oklahoma, and Janice and Jeff Miller of Dallas, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Chelsey Sterner, Johnathan Bodkin, Lilly Hopper, Ruby Hopper, Samuel Hopper, Remi Hopper, Liam Hopper, and Tristan Hopper; one great granddaughter, Lacelynn Sterner of Mena; a very special niece, Roneisa Matero of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.
