Evalyn Herring

Funeral services for Evalyn Herring will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Okemah Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery.
Evalyn Herring was born August 29, 1927 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Orvel and Eva Huckleberry. She passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024 in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 97.
Evalyn was a resident of Okemah most all of her life. She retired as city clerk for the city of Okemah after nearly 20 years of employment. She was also a devoted and much appreciated employee of Parks Brothers Funeral Home for many years; a job she really enjoyed. Evalyn married Alvie "Son" Herring August 28, 1943; he later preceded her in death October 11, 1988. On March 24, 2001, she and J.D. Earnest were married; he also preceded her in death, November 8, 2005. Evalyn was a faithful member of the Okemah Church of Christ and enjoyed working with flowers, crocheting and ceramics. She will be dearly missed.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Rex Herring; one daughter, Paula Coston; grandson, Michael Herring; great-grandson, Joshua Worley and great-great-granddaughter, Lahnie Hinkle.
Survivors include one sister, Pauline Rice of Ada, Oklahoma; son in law, Darrell Coston of Okemah; six grandchildren, Gail Kelly and husband Patrick, Deanna Hinkle and husband Kevin, Donna Herring, David Swayze and wife Tonya, Deaundra Swayze and Jason Herring; 13 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be David Swayze, Zachary Worley, Jason Herring, Jake Hinkle, Cody Swayze and Talan Hinds.
Honorary bearers include Max Henry, Tanner Hinds and Kevin Hinkle.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
