Evelyn Johnson

Evelyn Johnson was born May 14, 1943 in Tampa, Kansas the daughter of Phillip and Esther (Teetzen) Vinduska. She passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at her home in Abilene at the age of 81.
Following graduation from high school, Evelyn received her associate's degree from Brown Mackie College in Salina.
Evelyn was a fixture at Joe Snuffy's for many years before retiring. She loved to visit with customers coming in and out.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Lodge, Red Hat Ladies, the Chatterbox Ladies, and Grace United Church of Christ. She spent many years managing the Alamo Saloon at old Abilene town in the 90's. She participated in several community plays as well.
Evelyn was married to Orville H. Brown, JR. They later divorced. She then married Boyd Johnson, SR. He passed away in 1989.
She is survived by her daughter Juanita Moore of Winters, Texas, brothers Francis Vinduska of St. Augustine, Florida, Dave Vinduska of Waterville, Kansas, Jerry Vinduska of Abilene, seven grandchildren and Nineteen great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband Boyd, Evelyn is preceded in death by her sons Philip Johnson, Boyd Johnson, brother Fred Vinduska, and sisters Jane Vinduska, and Rose Vinduska.
Services will be 10:00 am Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Grace United Church of Christ with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow the service and her final resting place will be in the Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday evening at the Danner Funeral Home.
