Evelyn Kay Himes Parrish, affectionately known as Kay, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, in her hometown of
Paris, Kentucky, at the age of 80. Born to Floyd and Helen Lorena Himes on August 15, 1945, also in
Paris, KY, Kay lived a full life marked by devotion to her family and unwavering faith.
Kay is lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, James Parrish, with whom she built a life rich with love and shared purpose. She leaves behind a legacy in her four children, Lisa (Dwayne) Rice, Tod (Dianna) Parrish, Diane Berryman, and Mark (Lisa Clark) Parrish. Kay also leaves behind a tapestry of memories shared with her twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, who will carry on her spirit of kindness and grace. Her life was further blessed with the companionship of her brother, Mike Himes, and her four sisters, Betty Brophy, Delores Moore, Linda (Randy) Hopkins, and Susan Wigglesworth, in addition to a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After graduating from Bourbon County High School in 1963, Kay went on to build her professional life as a housekeeper manager at both Bourbon Community Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Her leadership and compassion touched the lives of many within these walls.
A staunch pillar of the First Church of God, Kay lived her faith, embracing the Christian values of love and service in every act. Her commitment to her church was evident in everything she did – from participation in church activities to selflessly giving her time and energy for the benefit of others.
An avid bowler, Kay channeled her competitive spirit into many bowling leagues, participating in state tournaments and delighting in the camaraderie of the game. Her zest for life was seen in this beloved hobby and shared with those who bowled alongside her.
Kay was preceded in death by her loving parents, Floyd and Helen Lorena Himes, brothers Robert and Doug Himes, and sisters Anna Hyatt and Sarah Moore.
Kay will be forever remembered as a loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled woman whose actions spoke the language of kindness. Her gentle presence and unwavering optimism have left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. As a mother, wife, sister, and friend, Kay embodied a spirit of generosity that captured the true essence of a life well-lived – leaving behind a beacon of love that will continue to guide her family and community for generations to come. The world is a brighter place because of Kay, and she will be deeply missed, yet her light will persist in the memories we cherish.
