Evelyn Lois Ponder

Evelyn Ponder, a faith-filled, loving, and generous soul, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023, in Longview, Texas. Born on April 21st, 1944 in Joaquin, Texas. Evelyn lived a great life and was loved by everyone in her community.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Ponder; her parents, P.W. and Eva Foster; and her sisters, Jean Crumpton and Wanda Stewart. She is survived by her devoted sons, Danny Ponder and Kevin Ponder and his wife Nadine. Evelyn was a cherished grandmother to Danny Ponder Jr (Katie), Stephen (Kerry), Jeffery (Stephanie), Jacob (Ashlie), Matthew (Kirsten). She also leaves behind her 9 great-grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Evelyn's professional career spanned many decades as a dedicated accountant and bookkeeper. Outside of work, Evelyn was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in White Oak, Texas. She spent many hours volunteering and had a passion for serving others. She also took great pride in her yard and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed fishing, family and travelling.
She had a heart that was always open, ready to give and receive love. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of everyone she met. Evelyn's legacy is one of love and devotion to her family and work.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Cammack Family Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. following the visitation. Evelyn will be laid to rest at the Rosewood Cemetery, in Longview, Texas next to her husband.
