Evelyn (Evie) Florence Spencer died in her home on October 26th, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born to her parents Clayton and Velda Grandbouche on August 2nd, 1955, at Geneva Memorial Hospital in Geneva, Ohio.
Evelyn was the most loving, supportive, giving and selfless person that her family was honored to call theirs. She was the helpmate and wife of Howard E. Spencer of New Lyme, Ohio for 54 years. She gave so much love, life and patience as a mother of three children, Brian H. (Andrea) Spencer of Granite Falls, NC, Melissa (Robert) Udell of New Lyme and Wendy M. Scott of Geneva, Ohio. The very best grandmother to Andy Udell, Corey Udell (deceased), Nickolas and Robert Udell, Amelia and Jordan Spencer, Lindsey and Alyssa Scott. She was great grandmother to T.J., and was the sister of Roy Grandbouche (deceased), Vivian Park (deceased) and Glen Grandbouche.
Evelyn cherished her family and was always there to help in any way. She had many names and wore many hats in her 70 years of life. She was fondly called Mom, Ev, Mema Evie, & GRN. She was the second Mom to so many and will always be greatly missed. She was supportive to her family and community; from giving to fundraisers, Special Olympics and small businesses just to name a few. She gave to anyone in need and opened her home to many that needed a place to stay through the years. She loved to laugh, and she taught her children how to love unconditionally by her example.
She had a lot of hobbies: From gardening, reading, baking bread and sugar cookies, sewing, crocheting blankets and stuffed animals. She loved spending time with her family, whether it was sharing a meal, playing Scrabble, putting a puzzle together or creating games like Hide the Thimble. She was very creative and artsy and loved giving to others without needing praise or recognition for it. She shared posts of encouragement daily on her Facebook page. Her favorite flowers are pansies, and her favorite color is yellow. Evelyn was a woman of grace and forgiveness. She had an incredible work ethic. She was a strong, beautiful woman with a heart of gold. She left her family with a lifetime of fun adventurous memories that will be shared for generations.
There will not be a public service per her request. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Evelyn, please donate to your favorite charity.
