Evelyn Woodhouse

Pauline Evelyn Woodhouse, 96, of Herrin, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin.
Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper at the Bank of Herrin for 24 years.
Evelyn was former member of the Bryan Street Baptist Church in Herrin. She was in the Mary Martha Sunday School Class.
She later became a member of the Royalton Baptist Church in Royalton, Illinois.
Evelyn was born July 2, 1929 in Carbondale, IL to James W. Addison, Sr. and Stella N. (Wynn) Addison.
Evelyn married William A. Woodhouse, Sr. on May 25, 1947 in Mayfield, KY. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2010.
She is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, William A. "Bill" & Nancy Woodhouse of Herrin and Paul "Ed" & Deborah Woodhouse of Herrin; six grandchildren, Michelle Lynn "Shelly & Richard Walton of Florida, Nathan & Bren Woodhouse of Nashville, TN, Bethany Shaffer of Texas, William Joseph Woodhouse of Herrin, Christy & Brandon Law of Norfolk, VA, and Paula Murphy of West Frankfort, IL; step granddaughter, Vicki & Frank Miner of Zeigler, IL; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Sharon Strope of Galesburg, IL; and several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Loulee".
She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Thomas "Joe" & Kathy Woodhouse; husband; infant great-great grandson, Ezekiel Turner; parents; two sisters, Madalyn Escue and Shirley Ann Parker; and three brothers, Paul Edgar Addison, James William Addison, Jr. and Howard Lee Addison.
Evelyn's wishes were to be cremated; a Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin with Rev. Mario Ramos officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110; envelopes will be available at the cemetery.
