Evereace Burton "Burt" Errington, a dedicated public servant and respected professional, passed away on June 25, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 17, 1943, in Newport, AR, Burt was raised in Magnolia, AR, where he attended the Magnolia Public School System, and was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church.
Burt answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He spent four years with the Air Anti-Submarine Squadron Thirty-Three and completed a nearly three-year tour in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge, Burt utilized the GI Bill to pursue higher education. He attended Southern Arkansas University, where he studied general education, and later continued his studies in electrical engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL.
After college, Burt embarked on a successful career in the bread industry. Starting as a route salesman, his hard work and dedication saw him rise to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. Burt worked with several different firms in the bread industry in the Bahamas and Florida, where he lived for several years, further enriching his life experiences.
In 1994, Burt transitioned to a career in law enforcement, joining the Columbia County Sheriff's Department. There, he served as a deputy, Deputy Coroner, and Captain, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues and community. His commitment to public safety and justice led him to begin a career as a parole/probation officer with the Department of Community Punishment in August 1997, where he continued to make a significant impact.
Beyond his professional life, Burt was a devoted family man. He is survived by his son, Brian Errington and wife, Nicole of St. Augustine, FL; his daughters, Cindy Otwell of McNeil and Becky Elmore and husband, Marshall of Magnolia; daughter-in-law, Lizett Otwell of Louisiana. Burt was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Jeremy Caldwell and wife April of Pottsboro, TX, Kayle Whiddon and husband Zach and Zach Wilbur and wife, Karsyn of Magnolia, Audrey Mastny and husband, Ryan and Megan Neil and husband Brad of McNeil, Conner Errington and Gracie Errington of St. Augustine, FL, and Holly Elmore of Hot Springs; along with many great grandchildren.

In his free time, Burt cherished hunting and fishing, finding joy and peace in these outdoor pursuits.
Burt's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to service, whether in the military or law enforcement. His legacy is one of integrity, commitment, and the profound influence he had on the lives of those around him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
