We are deeply saddened to announce the unexpected death of retired Master Chief Petty Officer Everett Bradley Cook on 19 December, 2024. Now, if you knew him, you would know to never refer to him as Everett. He was simply "Brad." Brad was born in Englewood, California on 17 September, 1949, to Coleen and Burton Cook, who both preceded him in death. He leaves a younger sister Cindy Brown and her husband Don who currently live in Nebraska. Doug Cook his younger brother also preceded him in death. He graduated in 1967 from Hastings High School. This is where he met the love of his life, Kristine "Kris" Knigge, whom he would go on to marry in 1969. They stayed together until her death in 2020 from end-stage Alzheimers. In April of 1969 he started his career with the United Stated Navy where he continued until his retirement as the Command Master Chief of NAS-Millington in 1995. The Navy took him out to sea and to many different countries. It also moved his family to many different states and even Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He and Kris had two children, Matthew (Janene) Cook and Michael (Lori) Cook. He had three grandchildren Leslie Dagan, Bobbie Sue Wilson, and Hudson Cook and three great-grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting, all sports, and all things Nebraska. He was also a fan of the Covington Chargers and the Memphis Tigers. He loved to grill and cook for his family whenever they would come over. He also loved to treat people with little gifts like donuts or dinner to show his appreciation. His remains will be inurned at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Germantown, Tennessee on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, he suggested donating to the Alzheimer's Association or taking a box of donuts to your favorite office staff in his memory.
