It is with great sadness the family of Everett "BUTCH" Ptomey announces his passing November 11, 2024. Butch will be greatly missed & forever remembered by his family, friends & colleagues. Butch was a man who lived life on his own terms. He had a great love for his dogs, hunting, fishing & sports. He was known for his ability to make friends laugh and share old-time stories.
Butch was born December 24, 1952 in Hiawatha, KS to Don & Marjorie Thomas Ptomey, being the oldest of 4. Butch graduated from Midway High School in 1970. Butch worked in various industries, including farming & construction. Butch relocated to Texas installing & doing Grand Openings for Pizza Inn. His biggest achievement was owning and operating Futchies Pizza and The Lumberyard. Later in life he became a Maintenace technician at Affliliated Foods for over 15 years. His last professional role was serving as a Merchandiser for Coca-Cola which gave him the opportunity to visit with his many friends while they were shopping at the stores he was servicing.
He will be reunited with his parents, brother, grandparents & great nephew.
He is survived by his children Bryan (Rhian) Ptomey, Angie (Nathan) Idol both of Highland, siblings Yvonne (Steve) Peuker of Atchison & Jim (Monica) Ptomey of Texas. Grandchildren Bryan/Pumba Ptomey of Texas, Hunter, Houston, H'Leigha & Hadisyn Idol all of Highland. Madison Whetstine, Malia, Mavrick, & Makenna Smith. 8 great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews.
At the end of Butch's journey, he was surrounded by his loving family & friends, each of his hands held, his ears full of loving words, support & prayers, he was never alone.
A Celebration of Butch's life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, November 16, Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland with a visitation prior to beginning at 12:30pm.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butch Ptomey Memorial Fund handled by Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 33, Highland 66035.
