Everett Stephen Riggs, 75, of Elk Garden, WV, died Friday, January 10, 2025 at his residence.
Born on October 20, 1949 in Middletown, NY, he was a son of the late Everett George and Mary (Holden) Riggs. He also was preceded in death by his wife Elsie (Pierce) Riggs on July 25, 2014; a stepson, Robert Irwin and a brother, Charles Riggs and his wife Bonnie.
Mr. Riggs was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy and was well travelled throughout his military career. He also was the owner and operator of Riggs Automotive. He enjoyed fishing and motorcycling and was a member of Rolling Thunder of Virginia, Chapter 1 and a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) for 24 years. He liked to cook, wear funny T-shirts and was considered the family "jokester."
Surviving are his stepdaughter, Teresa Irwin Fischer of Woodbine, MD; three brothers, Dennis Riggs of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas Riggs of Winchester, VA and Robert Riggs and wife Lisa of Newnan, GA; three sisters, Eileen Hall and husband Tony of Canastota, NY, Ruth Ann Deyo and husband Scott of Blossvale, NY and Margaret Short and husband Dan of Skaneateles, NY and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or services.
Private inurnment will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery, Upperville, VA.
The Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Keyser, WV, is in charge of the arrangements.
