Fahed Farid Kaba

Fahed Farid Kaba (Abu Farid), 83, of Homs, Syria, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Ilham Dahbar for the past 54 years.
Born in Homs, Syria, 1940, the son of the late Farid and Fariza Kaba.
Fahed is survived by his children, Farid (and his wife Ellen) of Perth Australia and Chadi (and his wife Donna) of Seekonk, MA, and his sisters: Fatena Chammas of Cyprus, and Fidaa Mallah of Lebanon, and his grandchildren, Fahd, Jad, Elias, Adam, Devin, and Emily.
Fahed graduated from the Jesuit High School in his hometown and studied civil engineering for two years at the American University of Beirut. However, he had to return to Homs to care for his family (his mother and five sisters) after his father's passing. He owned a marble and tile factory and lived most of his life in Homs. He was forced to leave his country after his house was damaged beyond repair when a bombshell hit the bedrooms. He lost a significant portion of his hard-earned money during the Syrian Civil War and the Lebanese bank crisis.
He was an active member of the church in Homs and a co-founder of the Catholic Club.
Fahed enjoyed waltz dancing, traveling, and shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables, but most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and close friends. He was well known for being a kind-hearted, humble, wise, and loving gentleman.
His legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at St. Basil the Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive in Lincoln, RI on Thursday, May 30th at 10 a.m. A calling hour will be held on Thursday morning from 9 – 10 a.m. in the church.
Burial will follow at St. Basil the Great Cemetery in Cumberland, RI.
