Fei Ye

Fei Ye passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of November 6, 2025 after a year-long battle with cancer.
Fei is survived by her husband, Hongsheng Cai; her son, Kevin Cai; her mother, Shijie Wang; her sister, Xin Katherine Ye; her brother-in-law, Anthony Chen; her niece, Christina Chen; and countless other relatives in China.
Fei was born and raised in Hefei, China, growing up and going to school in the city before enrolling in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. There, she studied telecom engineering and met her husband, Hongsheng. Together, they moved to the United States in 1991, and Fei earned a Master's Degree in Biostatistics at the University of Vermont. After
several years in Vermont, Fei moved to Massachusetts where she and Hongsheng raised their son, Kevin, eventually settling in Shrewsbury in 1998.
She was curious at heart and always sought to try out new things, whether it be reading new stories, testing new recipes, trying out new foods, or visiting new places. She loved traveling and went on countless trips to locations all over the world. When she could no longer travel abroad after her diagnosis, she was still constantly looking up new local restaurants to sample. Despite
her limited food intake, she would spend her free time looking up menus and picking out the variety of dishes she wanted to taste, from tapas to hotpot to yakiniku, and would try a new place every week.
Fei will be remembered for her kindness, empathy, toughness, and attention to detail. She was always thinking of others and how she could be of help. She faced her diagnosis bravely and was never afraid. Even though the cancer had progressed to such a late stage, she was remarkably active and cheerful, and could be mistaken for someone who was perfectly healthy. Her mind was incredibly sharp, picking up on and remembering details others would easily forget.
In keeping with Fei's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, a private visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, from 10AM to 12PM at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, Shrewsbury, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Fei's name to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.

Fei's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the close friends who have supported Fei throughout her hard-fought battle with cancer. Fei will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
