Felicia Toomer Obituary
Felicia Sheftall Toomer, born on June 10, 1968, in the vibrant community of Harlem, NY, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Wilmington, NC, at the age of 57. With a heart full of love and a spirit unwavering in its strength, Felicia dedicated her life to those around her and shared her joy with the world.
Felicia was a woman of many gifts and talents, but above all, her greatest calling was showing compassion to others. Throughout her life, she embraced a variety of roles-working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Home Healthcare, earning her Cosmetology License and Masseuse License, and later receiving credentials to open and operate her own in-home daycare, where she nurtured and guided young children. No matter the job title, Felicia poured her heart into serving, caring, and uplifting those around her. Her compassion was not just her work-it was who she was.
Her love for her family was boundless. Felicia cherished every moment spent with her children-Shakya, Alexis, Sean, and Alphonso-and her 12 beloved grandchildren: Audrian, Alexa, Amani, Amir, Lyra, Harper, Jaden, Ja'Nya, O'nami, Naveah, Jade, and Sanaa, who were the light of her life. She believed in nurturing the youth and was a devoted mother and grandmother, imparting wisdom and guidance to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A devout Christian, Felicia was a proud member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith was both an anchor and a beacon. Her remarkable culinary skills made her signature spaghetti a beloved dish, remembered fondly by all who gathered at her table.
Felicia's legacy is further cherished by her loving parents, James and Dorothy, and her siblings, listed from oldest to youngest: Alton (deceased), Tina, Tommy, Michael, De-Shea Jr., and George. Her family and countless friends remember her warmth and generosity, forever inspired by her example of living a life of purpose and compassion.
A family gathering in her honor will be announced by the family, where all will celebrate the life of a woman who touched so many hearts with her resilience, kindness, and unwavering faith.
In her journey, Felicia taught us that even the strongest storms could not dim the light of a caring soul. Her memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life beautifully and selflessly lived.
