Felipe B. Rivera, 81, a lifelong resident of El Guache, NM, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025 after a short illness.
He was preceded in by death his parents Alberto and Felomena Rivera, his brothers Ray and Fedal Rivera, brother-in-law Robert Lucero.
Felipe is survived by his wife Flora Rivera, daughter Michelle Salazar (Shawn) son Phillip Rivera (Corina), brothers Macrio and Gilbert Rivera, sister Aggie Goodnight and a special cousin that he loved like a sister Susie Lucero, granddaughter Marlina Roybal (Chris) Shaila Rivera, great grandchildren Paul, Jaydn, Alanna, Kandra and many other niece’s, nephews and cousins.
He was a man with a big heart that would help anyone that was in need. He also was known as Mr. Rivera the Welding Instructor at Northern New Mexico Community College. His true passion was training and racing horses. He was truly a gift to us all.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente, NM. Burial to follow at the Ojo Caliente Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Paul Martinez, Jaydn Garcia, Diego Madrid, Jessie Lucero, Macrio Rivera and Tino Lucero.
The family of Felipe B. Rivera has entrusted the care of their loved ones to the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Española Valley 505-747-7477.
