Felisa Kawayan Dennett

Felisa "Lisa" (Mendros) Dennett, also known as Lisa, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by loved ones at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Wilmington. She was born on Saturday, January 3, 1953, in the beautiful Philippines, to the late Fernando Mendros and Katalina (Kawayan) Mendros. Her journey through life was marked by her dedication to family and her joyful pursuit of keeping life simple.

For many years, Lisa worked as a mess hall attendant at Camp Lejeune Military Base, where she was known for her hard work ethic and her ability to bring warmth and laughter to those around her. Outside of work, she found joy in fishing, crocheting, solving crossword puzzles, and watching movies in foreign languages-the cheesier, the better.

A wonderful cook, Lisa was best known for her adobo chicken and lumpia, with every meal accompanied by a mountain of rice. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and delight, where she shared her culinary talents with friends and family.

Previously residing in Cleveland, Tennessee, Lisa was a devoted member of the Catholic faith, finding strength and solace in her beliefs.

Lisa is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Michael Dennett; her cherished son, Charlie Mendros, and his wife, Tina, of Jacksonville; and her treasured grandchildren, Whitney Couch, Justin McKenzie, Tori Rodriguez and Jose, Charlie Antonio and Joshua Mendros. Her great-grandchildren, Lakelynn, River, Barrett, Willow, Cerus, Salem, Cairo, Canyon, and Charlotte, will carry forward her spirit and zest for life; as well as her dear friend, Helen Emerson.

One to live life on her own terms, she will be most remembered for her feisty personality, being sarcastic, and loving mother who could discipline with one hand and offer guidance and wisdom with the other. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
