It is with a sense of profound joy and deep admiration that we celebrate the life of Lawrence Dean Dennett, affectionately known as Larry, who was born in San Francisco, CA on July 28, 1954, and resided in Orem, Utah for the past 47 years. A man of immense charisma and charm, Larry had the rare ability to light up a room with his infectious smile and quick-witted humor. He was a funny soul who loved to see others laugh and was always there to lend a supportive hand. Larry was a beacon of love, not only to his family but to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. As Victor Hugo once said, "Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face," and Larry was our perpetual sunshine.
Larry served his country in Vietnam as a Marine, then spent another 20 years in the Utah National Guard and Army Reserve. Outside of his military service he spent his life doing any job he could do with his hands, retiring as a printer in 2011. He found immense joy in his work, but family was his ultimate happiness. Larry was a loving husband to Susan, they married after a brief courtship on October 19, 1979. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with mutual respect, affection, and an unbreakable bond. He was also a devoted father to Kristy and Ben, his wonderful daughter-in-law Ashley, and was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, Anna and Will. Family was what mattered most to Larry, and he ensured that he was not just a father or a grandfather, but a friend, mentor, and a pillar of support to his family.
Larry's hobbies were as diverse as his wonderful personality. He had an undying love for gardening, sports, and his truck. His highest joy was spending quality time with his kids and grandkids. He spent many years coaching his and the neighborhood kids in sports and looked forward to coaching his grandson. Larry never stopped working, his labor of love was in his garden, nurturing his plants just as he nurtured his relationships - with patience, care, and love. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Diller, and his loving family. Larry was predeceased by his beloved daughter Jennifer, Grandparents Lawrence and Irene Smith, father Dean Dennett, and mother, Laverne Carroll.
As we bid farewell to Larry, let us remember him not with tears but with laughter, for he was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. "The most wasted of all days is one without laughter," as e.e. cummings said, and Larry made sure no day was wasted. Please feel free to share your memories of Larry and upload photos to his memorial page. Remember him as he was - full of laughs and love.
