Marjory Fern Myers Michael, 91, was born at home in Seminole, OK, on September 1, 1930, to Elizabeth Jane Patrick Myers and Harley Arthur Myers. She was the seventh child of eleven children. On September 20, 1947, she married James B. Michael. They were inseparable until his death in 2001. Together they had five children. The family resided in early life in Seminole and Sallisaw before moving to the Choctaw, OK, area in 1959. During her life Fern worked as a housewife, gardener, clerical worker, federal civil servant as a packaging laborer, and seven years as a home child day care owner.
Fern attended Hills Business School in Oklahoma City and completed her GED in her late forties. She was very proud of those accomplishments.
Fern loved all animals. She had many dogs and cats throughout her life. She treated all animals like her children. A grandson once told her if he were a dog, he wanted to be her dog. She leaves behind a dog, Rosie, and three cats, Miss Kitty, Kimber, and Jaxson.
Above all things she was a Christian and loved God her entire life. Although her vision was limited due to macular degeneration, she read her Bible most every day until the last week of her life. Dementia took over the last year of her life, but she was loved and cared for by family on her property in Choctaw until her last breath.
We would like to thank Encompass Hospice Care for the fantastic and overwhelming care and dignity they provided her.
She was preceded in death by husband, James; Patricia, daughter; Larry, son; Jimmy, grandson; Uriah, grandson; and Kaylee, her great granddaughter; parents, and nine siblings. She is survived by Gary Michael, son; Danny Michael, son; Linda Mehaffey, daughter; Marilyn Combs, sister; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
