Fernand Dutremble Obituary
Fernand J. Dutremble, 95, of North Smithfield, died January 28, 2024 in Hope Hospice & Palliative Care. He was the husband of Simone (Lambert) Dutremble, to whom he was married to for 70 years. Born in Blackstone, he was the son of the late Leo and Irene (Gravel) Dutremble.
Fernand worked as a construction worker and was a member of the Laborers Union of Massachusetts. He served in the US Army during the Korean War achieving the rank of Sargent. He was a proud veteran. Fernand was a man who enjoyed time with his family. He loved making people laugh and telling jokes. "All in fun" he would say. Fernand also enjoyed going to the casino and going out to eat. As we would be waiting for a table he would say "thank you for leaving" to people as they were leaving the restaurant with a laugh or chuckle. Fernand was also a very hard worker, building his family home and completed many masonry projects on his property as well as for his family. He always leant a helping hand to his family and friends.
Along with his wife Simone, he is survived by their son, Richard Dutremble, and his wife Carolyn, of Millville, MA; his daughters, Paulette Dutremble of North Smithfield, and Linda Bayer, and her husband Steven, of Mapleville, and his daughter-in-law Sharon Dutremble of Nasonville; his brothers, Paul DuTremble of North Smithfield, and Jean Dutremble of Mapleville; his sisters, Jeannine Drainville and Lorraine Palardy, both of Blackstone; seven grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Erin, Joshua, Matthew, Kaitlyn, and Kristen; three great grandchildren, Danielle, Jackson, and Olive. He was the father of the late Robert Dutremble and Jacqueline Cinq-Mars, and the brother of the late Denis Dutremble, Therese Carpentier, and Laurette Archambault.
His funeral will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 beginning with visitation at 9 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangeslist Church, 63 Church St, Slatersville, RI 02876. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
