Filippo "Philip" DeStasio passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. Born on September 22, 1964, in Naples, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Errico and Elena (Vivenzio) DeStasio.
Philip grew up in the South End of Springfield, where he formed lifelong friendships and contributed to the community he loved. In his early years, he worked as a laborer and later became involved in numerous construction and roofing projects throughout the area. He took great pride in his work and in helping to build and repair the homes and businesses of his neighbors.
A man with a generous heart, Philip cherished time spent with his family and friends. He devoted much of his time to care for his parents during their time of need.
He is survived by his sisters, Maria DeCaro and her husband, Joseph, and Josephine Olivera; his brother, Michael DeStasio, and his wife, Joanne; and his many nephews: Anthony, Ricardo, Christopher, Joseph, John, Michael, Mike, Nick, and Daniel, his godchild. He will also be deeply missed by his Aunt Lauretta; his Uncle Alfredo and his wife, Jane; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and close friends.
Calling hours for Philip will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00-7:00PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam, MA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, beginning at 8:45AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 10:00AM, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield, MA. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield.
