Florence Marion Giessinger

GIESSINGER, Florence Marion (Elmore) – of Flint, MI, age 94, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at her home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint, 48506, Rev. Fr. Roy Horning Celebrant. There will be one hour of gathering prior at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
Florence was born in Midland, MI on July 26, 1929, daughter of the late John and Ann Elmore. She married Leo Giessinger on September 16, 1950 in West Branch, MI, and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2004 after 74 years of marriage. Florence was a mother figure to so many and enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked at GM for 30 years and spent many years volunteering at Holy Rosary as her faith was important to her. Florence enjoyed making cabbage rolls and working the food tent at the annual Festival. She loved bowling, golfing, snowmobiling and shopping.
Florence is survived by son, Michael Giessinger; grandchildren, Nihcole (David) Anderson, Zachary (Jessica) Giessinger, Curtis (Kelly) Giessinger, Laura (Matt) Grubb; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Liberty, Noah, Amaya, Zachary Jr. and Ainsley; brother, Harry (Claire) Elmore; many nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Greg, John Jr., Debra, Connie, Tony, Andy, Steve and Mark. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John (Shirley) Elmore; sister, Emma (John Gall) Elmore.
