Florence Laverne Gorbett

Florence Laverne Gorbett, 86, of Christiansburg, went to be with her heavenly father on Monday September 19, 2022. She was born in 1936 in Freetown, Indiana to the late Chester and Gladys Martin Wayt. Laverne spent most of her adult life living in and around Freetown.
Laverne retired from Hoosier Christian Village. She loved to yard sale, sing, play and win at rummy, and visit with all her family. She laughed and talked most when visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was the last surviving active charter member of First Baptist Church in Freetown. She loved God, reading her Bible, and singing gospel music.
She is survived by her children, Vicky Wyatt of Nashville, Robin (Mark) Young of Seymour, Lisa Hayes of Hartsville, Angela (Ray) Vasquez of Christiansburg, Timothy (Julie) Gorbett of Freetown, and Melissa Jaynes of Seymour; one sister, Deloris Fields of Seymour, Indiana; and twelve grandchildren and eighteen grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Gorbett; two sons, David Gorbett and Thomas Gorbett; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Gorbett; four brothers, Russell Wayt, Frank Wayt, Thomas Wayt, and Kenneth Wayt; and four sisters, Goldie Sutton, Hazel Isaacs, Nine Machino, and Jean Wayt.
Visitation will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Friday September 23, 2022, from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm. Burial will follow the service at Freetown Cemetery.
